Women and Snoring

Snoring can be embarrassing to a lot of women who suffer from it. In many cases, this embarrassment is caused by stereotypes about snoring that simply aren’t true. All too often people think snoring only happens to those who are overweight, lazy or male. That just isn’t the case. More than 90 million Americans snore and as many as a third of them are women. In fact, nearly a quarter of the adult female population snores, so you are certainly not alone.

At Sereno, we have treated men and women, old and young, those physically fit and overweight. We’ve found that snoring is typically an anatomical problem and not linked to gender or any hygiene issue that you should be embarrassed about.

Although you have little reason to be embarrassed, you should nonetheless take your condition seriously. Studies show that women who snore are more likely to experience heart disease, cardiac complications and stroke1. At Sereno, we are here to help. Our specialized Board Certified Ear, Nose and Throat physicians will diagnose the causes of your snoring and recommend the most effective, comprehensive treatment to alleviate it.
