Some people who snore may also suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).  OSA is a condition where efforts to breathe can cause the tissue in your upper airway to collapse and block air from reaching your lungs. It’s estimated that 4-9% of the U.S. population suffers from OSA.

Sereno is not a sleep lab, but if our physicians see signs or symptoms of OSA during your evaluation, they may recommend that you complete a home sleep study either before and/or after treatment. Sleep studies have traditionally been performed in overnight sleep labs. However, portable sleep monitoring devices have recently emerged as favorable alternatives. Home sleep studies allow physicians to monitor your sleep patterns in the comfort of your own home without disrupting your normal nightly routine.

The home sleep studies that we recommend are performed using a device called the Watch-PAT.  The Watch-PAT is worn on your wrist while finger probes connected to the device collect your sleep data and vital signs.  The information is stored on a removable memory card and downloaded for our physicians to analyze and then recommend the appropriate solution for you.

Home sleep studies are a convenient alternative to identify disruptive patterns in your sleep without sacrificing your time or comfort.
